I can’t tell you how many times I have heard the same comment from my customers. “I used to hit my seven iron 150 yards, now it’s more like 130?” Or does this sound familiar “I would love some added distance, but I don’t want to use one of those clunky game improvement irons.” Ping has heard your cries and answered the call. The all new Ping Tour G700 iron is something that is worthy of a very hard look.
The new Ping G700 is a hollow body design – the first of its kind for a full set offering from PING and its design provides for a higher launch with a bit less spin. It also brings with it the usual claims for a distance iron, but the lower spin will help you stay on the green. The extra ball speed comes via an unsupported variable thickness maraging steel face which flexes significantly more than anything else in the PING iron lineup. That new face design gets you faster ball speeds across the entire face, miss hits will be less tragic. The G700 is a deep body design that is truly concealed when you look down on the iron. Side by side with the G400 iron, it is hard to tell the difference between the two irons. Thanks to a thin top line design and the Ping engineer’s commitment to providing quality aesthetics and confident iron profiles, these are big irons with a small town feel.
If you are looking for an iron that easy to hit, goes a long way, with a tight dispersion, and somehow stays on the green, look no further. A side note from my personal experience is how attractive these irons look in a bag. The sets that we have sent out have really gathered a ton of attention when they are waiting for pick up. It apparently is hard to walk by them and not reach out and want to touch them because they are like shiny magnets in the shop. Everyone grabs them. So far it appears that the hype is real though. I have quite a few sets out there thanks to some strong pre-sale numbers and the feedback is 100 percent positive. A few guys complained that they were hitting over greens!
